Borel, a highly skilled cybersecurity professional with a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, has built a solid foundation in the field. He currently works at FISERV, where he focuses on safeguarding complex financial systems from evolving digital threats.
He competed in the CyTaka World Cyber Championship in New York, an experience that offered new challenges. Unlike his previous work, which had mainly focused on Linux-based systems, the competition required Borel to think and act beyond his comfort zone. The challenges called for quick thinking, problem-solving, and precise reasoning to address real-time cybersecurity issues.
One of the most intriguing tasks was analyzing Windows files, an area Borel had little experience with, given his background in Linux. This presented a unique challenge, pushing him to readjust his approach and apply new methods of analysis. Despite the initial hurdle, Borel’s ability to adapt quickly and leverage his cybersecurity knowledge allowed him to succeed in this unfamiliar territory and win $3,000.
